Been testing CWS for the last week.
Here are my comments:
have to F3 to redraw the screen after every end of turn sometimes I have to do it twice
need to F3 during play but it only redraws the right side of the screen not the map in play
F3 after cancel orders
if there is no railroad move the option is still available on the main menu
I thought that under windows, I would have the mouse available
the window that opens is not resizeable
is there anyway I can change the default side when it opens
when I choose to drill army, why are the armies still displayed that are maxed out
is there a way I can choose the attack order - I am attacking one city from several others
I will be happy to beta test for you.
Please email me

WOW! I just had to reinstall XP and wanted to load CWS. I purchased this a long time ago from Mr. Hutsell and thought that it was worth every penny. Unfortunatlly I cannot find the disc :(.
Just got this from you sita and am really excited that you will port to Windows. After I get that running I will sure try the beta!
Thanks for having this available!

Please help!

I've downloaded all the files for the windows version of Civil War Strategy, BUT I can figure out how to get it started. I noticed there is no ".exe" file, which is usually where I start. How do I get the game to run?

Your help is profoundly appreciated!

Respectfully,
Jim

Love the Civil War games. How can I get it to play on my Windows 7 computer? This would be a pefect game app for the ipad, is there any change that will ever happen?

Hopefully the quirks will eventually be worked out. Combat often seems random-nothing like 10,000 defeating 100,000 despite the odds strongly disfavoring it, or 1 plane (I know it represents a squadron) being able to pin a 250,000 man army. The tech advances also seem strange-I spent one game from 1942 until 1946 waiting to develop invasion technology. Meanwhile the computer had learned it in 1943 and was constantly attempting to invade. Eventually I gave up on unreliable tech advances and just recruited troops-at least I knew I was getting something.

Looks like you have quite a lot to show for your work -- already looks like a solid basis for the ground-up game you probably have in mind. Always have been a fan of CWS and still run it now and then under DOSBox.

Only items I noted: (1) the graphics display mixed-up colors) at the 2nd & subsequent turn starts, correctable with F3; and (2) the program sometimes responds only to the Enter key when the prompt "Press any key to continue" appears. Probably easiest to just change the prompt -- I imagine you're going to put mouse support in there at some point anyway.

Thanks for the great work & best wishes for the year ahead!

I love Civil War Strategy. I'm a Unix/Linux Systems Administrator and have a small web/dev shop on the side. I'd love to test and see if I can help with porting in anyway. Thanks and Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays.
